Working with the Media Course

This is a one day course that aims to give delegates an insight and understanding into how the media works, and it is taught by a trainer who works in national television.  It is suitable for anybody who comes into contact with the media or is likely to do so in the future. We also run a specialised version of this course for scientists, engineers and doctors.

 Armed with the information from these sessions, when delegates do get a call from a journalist, they should be fully prepared and know both what to do and what not to do!

 The sessions on the course  are highly interactive with plenty of practical exercises to reinforce the theory of each module. The cost of the course per delegate is £495+VAT.
 

 Working With the Media Course Sessions:

• Module 1 – Introduction into how the broadcast, newspaper and internet media works

• Module 2 – What are the key issues that arise when the media are interested in talking to you or your company? What are the vital points and facts to establish? What are the pitfalls?

• Module 3 – Who is your audience? Adapting your message for different outlets, whether that is a trade journal or a national newspaper.

• Module 4 – Key tips for writing press releases and newspaper articles.

• Module 5 – Improving your delivery and presentation skills.

• Module 6 – Maintaining your company’s profile in the media.

• Module 7 – What should you do if your company has a story that it would like to get into the media? What’s the most effective way of grabbing the headlines?

• Module 8 – Final feedback session and questions.
