One Day Media Training Course

This one day media training course develops the skills and tools that managers and other employees need to master when dealing with the media. We also run a specialised version of this course for scientists, engineers and doctors. The course is taught by  highly experienced producers who work in national TV today. So you can be assured that the advice you will receive on this course could not be more current or more up-to-date.

This is a highly interactive course, which gives delegates the chance to practice media training techniques and to receive individual focused feedback. It is a shortened version of our two day media training course, we recommend that if delegates can spend the time, the two day course is a more complete option, but for executives short of time, this course covers the essential principles of dealing with the media.

The course examines how the media works and looks at the most effective ways of dealing with the different media organisations. It also gives delegates a chance to practice their interview techniques with a professional TV interviewer. At the end of the course, delegates will be able to take away a DVD of their interviews. The course is run for a maximum of eight delegates at a time. The group course starts from £2,995 + VAT.

One Day Media Training Course Sessions:

  • Module 1 – Demystifying the media, how the different broadcast, newspaper and internet outlets work.

  • Module 2 – The secrets to handling the media – the successes and the failures. What are the essential points you must establish before agreeing to do any interview?

  • Module 3 - What are the types of interviews you are likely to be asked to do? We explore both the “soft” and the “hard” interview. And  reveal the top media training tips to preparing for any interview. We explore what you need to say, how you need to say it and even what you need to wear.

  • Module 4 - A chance for delegates to put the theory they’ve learnt into practice with a professional TV interviewer. We start with the easier “softer” interview and then move onto the “harder” interview.

  • Module 5 – Feedback and individual assessment following the interview sessions, what worked, what didn’t, what should delegates be doing differently?

  • Module 6 – Another chance for delegates to practice their interview techniques putting the media training tips they have learnt in the last module into practice.

  • Module 7 – Feedback from second interview sessions and any final questions.
